Many residents of Elvetham Heath (near Fleet) and the surrounding area are opposed to the proposal to open a new Lidl foodstore.

The developers of the proposed Lidl at the Elvetham Heath "Gateway" have appealed the Council’s decision to refuse planning permission. We have one final chance to tell the Planning Inspectorate why this development is wrong for our community.
To build a strong objection, you need to see what the developers are claiming.
The "7-Digit" Search: Go to the Appeals Casework Portal. In the search box, enter only the last seven digits of the case: 3375985 .
The Council Portal: Alternatively, visit the Hart District Council Planning Portal and search for the original application: 24/00611/FUL. Click on the "Documents" tab to see all historical files and the new Appeal Statement of Case.
We are not just objecting because we "don't like it." We are objecting because the developer's evidence is technically flawed. You are encouraged to mention these points in your own words:
The developer’s new traffic report claims there will be "no severe impact" on our roads. However, their traffic surveys were conducted on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025—the first week of the school summer holidays.
The Flaw: By measuring traffic when the school and nurseries were quiet, they have artificially hidden the true level of peak-time congestion we face every day.
The Danger: Their model ignores the "school run" reality. A new store entrance here risks blocking the only access roundabout for thousands of residents.
The developer claims this store will "claw back" £20 million spent in other towns.
The Reality: Fleet Town Centre is currently thriving but is in a delicate balance. A store in Elvetham Heath is far more likely to "displace" local shoppers who currently visit Fleet’s high street than it is to stop people driving to Camberley or Farnborough. This threatens the survival of our town centre shops.
The developer admits they will remove 20-year-old trees that form the green "gateway" to our estate. They suggest that using meditation and fitness apps will mitigate the environmental and traffic impact. We believe our community deserves high-quality design and preserved green infrastructure, not "apps" and an industrial retail box.

The Calthorpe family owns the land. The freehold for the site "Land At, Elvetham Heath Way, Fleet" (Title Number HP800376) is registered to Madaket Limited of 76 Hagley Road, Birmingham B16 8LU.
The sole director of Madaket Limited is Sir Euan Hamilton Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe. Sir Euan and his family live on their estate in Elvetham, northwest of Fleet. The Elvetham Estate website states:
"The Calthorpe family remain committed to helping the local community and environment flourish for generations to come"
"We cherish our role in enriching the local countryside environment and are dedicated to fostering a thriving local community"
How would clogging up Elvetham Way and the Fleet Road roundabout, increasing air pollution, removing vegetation to create a 107 space car park, and further decimating town centre trade be consistent with these statements?
